Beau

Beau is our stud male Dragon.  He too is pretty easy going.  Read on to learn more about him.

Name:     Beau (Short for Bucephalus)

Age:        18 Months

Weight:   280 grams

Species:  Central Bearded Dragon (Pogona vitticeps)

Sex:         Male

Temperament

Beau is our new stud male.  He came to us just before winter this year (2011) and went straight to sleep for a couple of months.  He has recently awoken from his slumber and we are now starting to get to know him.  To this point he has been no trouble when being handled and seems as enthusiastic about his food as Lolly.  He is just over half Lolly’s weight at the moment so he has some catching up to do!  I have only fed him once, but, within 30 seconds he was eating out of my hand.  So I have every expectation that he will be a joy in the same way Lolly is.


Interesting Facts

Beau gets his name from Bucephalus who was the famous steed of Alexander the Great.  More directly, Beau was the name of the Black and Gold Dragon of Legend in the TV series Dragon Booster.  Here too, the Dragon of Legend was named after the great horse.

Beau comes to us from very good stock.  He was held onto by the breeder we bought him from with the specific intent of breeding quality Dragons with him.  In a weak moment he decided to go with Beau’s brother instead.  I was fortunate enough to snap Beau up before he was able to entertain second thoughts.  I have high hopes for Beau and Lolly producing beautiful babies this season.  I have not yet seen Beau fully coloured as he has been sleeping since he arrived.  However, images of his mother in particular are simply stunning.  His dad was not hard on the eye either!  Whatever happens, he looks to be a fantastic addition to our family.
